Honestly I don't know if it's due to the Mitac Mio PDA A701 ... or due to the Windows Mobile 5.0 -- but my opinion is "DO NOT RELY on anything" with this device. It may show it's open, have signal etc - you hear nothing - no call incoming - nor you see anything on screen - while others hear they're calling you :-)

Can such a device make communication very hard between humans ? YEP. Especially if you had a simple reliable device before - that never made you problems.

Relatives / friends / others get used to the fact that they can rely on calling you. But when you buy a "smartphone" or a "PDA phone" - as described above - everything changes.

You fail very important phone calls. Some other people may feel like you no longer want to respond to them ... and so on. It's not the rule. But it's about reliability.

How can a more expensive device be worse in reliability ? It's due to companies cost-reductions ? It's due to time-to-market ?

I think I had around 10 mobile phones in my life - but this is the first that I can't really rely on incoming calls:-))

One friend I have told me once "I have the best phone ever: one that's only a phone - it's cheap - but does this function right!"
