experiment: running your company by internal blogs and rss channels

I was reading an interview on bbc.co.uk (link) with the Intel boss.

what triggered my attention is this paragraph: "Emails are the way we run the company" (quote from that article).

well -- my crazy idea is: "how about running a company by internal rss feeds only" ?

Let's put a small complete scenario:

- make sure everybody learns and understand a common online rss reader - like google.com/reader

- make a company-wide transparent framework of blogs - each blog having automatically associated a rss feed/channel

- blogs can belong to: department, teams, people and SUBJECTS; last one -- every significant subject that comes into the company and may interest several people worth having a blog

- create a general blog for the entire company where every new blog is announced

- everybody must subscribe and watch this general blog to learn in a very up-2-date fashion about every new change/subject that appears

- for this - when one create a blog and it's associated rss feed - he describes very well and short the purpose of that blog -- such that interested people must choose very fast - exactly the same as non-interested people

- of course there must be a 'moderator' taking care of things, etc

- everybody watch the general blog via a rss reader (when they got the chance)

- once someone find a subject he's interested in -- or he must be interested -- he subscribes to that blog and start participating into content

Disadvantages ?
- some may never work -- moderator/others should watch :-P
- some may complain "it's too much information" (well - this is the world we live in)
- some may post bullshit replies just to have their names somewhere

Advantages ?
- maximum transparency
- everyone may contribute on subjects he usually is not involved in
- more convergence toward a "BIG SYNERGY COMPANY BRAIN"

Really - I expect comments on this one :-)

Won't work, IMO.
- email is private, blog is public. In companies, you communicate a lot to "selected groups". Total transparency is not an advantage, is a big disadvantage :)
- you like "information flood", many people don't; you can't expect a company to be made of people just like you, if a "company policy" can't handle diversity, it is a questionable policy IMO
- What advantage would blog+rss bring, over "public e-mail"? It's not clear to me. Maybe the fact that you have the blog as an "archive of mails" - but then again, if you install a "listserver" - then you can later easily find all the group emails archived, just by visiting a web page.

BTW, why not running the company through tweeter? :D
